1.1

Unless otherwise stated, this Part applies to:

1. (1) a non-directive insurer; and
2. (2) subject to 1.2, a Swiss general insurer.

1.2

Only Chapters 2, 5, 6 and 7 apply to a Swiss general insurer and only in respect of the activities of the firm carried on from a branch in the UK.

1.3

In this Part, the following definition shall apply:

registered branch

means a branch of a registered friendly society which is separately registered within the meaning of the Friendly Societies Act 1974.
